Singapore

Singapore is a bustling financial hub with a reputation for being safe and clean. The name, Singapore was derived from the words "Singa" which means lion, and "pura" which means city. Legend has it that a Prince from the vast Srivijaya empire was on a hunting expedition, when storms forced a landing on the shores of what is now Singapore. Whilst the Prince was exploring the countryside, he came across a strange beast, and was told that it was a Lion. The Prince later settled in what is now modern day Singapore, and named the island Singapura, or Lion City.

Today, Singapore is a lively vibrant city, and the perfect destination for both business and leisure travelers. The shopping is world famous, with the famous Orchard Road shopping precinct, with famous designer brands as well as a variety of other boutique shops.

The resort Island of Sentosa is located just off Singapore's southern shores, and is home to Universal Studios, an Oceanarium, butterfly park as well as plenty of other activities. For those who are looking for a romantic getaway, Sentosa also boasts white sand beaches and warm tropical waters. Sentosa is just a short cablecar ride or monorail ride away. You can also take a bus or taxi to Sentosa.
